Submission Guidelines |
 |
1) Reviews about single works should be approximately 750-1000 words in length. Review articles that discuss several related books should be approximately 2500-3000 words in length. Please include a word count at the top of the review. All reviews should be typewritten, double-spaced, in 12 point font and MS Word compatible. Finished reviews should be emailed to revieweditor@jewishidentities.org with the subject heading: Book Review of [book title] for Journal of Jewish Identities
Example:
From: Jane Q. Professor To: revieweditor@jewishidentities.org
Subject: Book Review of Safe Among the Germans for Journal of Jewish Identities
2) Reviews should paraphrase rather than quote at length. The page number of any quotation should appear in parentheses after the quotation. Reviews should also avoid footnotes or endnotes. References to other works should be incorporated into the review.
3) The header of the review should be in the following format.
1. Title
2. Author/s, editor/s
3. City, State: Publisher, date of publication (from title page)
4. Number of pages (last printed number page)
5. Hardcover or softcover / Cloth or paper, cost.
6. ISBN (Most review copies from publishers contain this
information.)
Example: Ruth Gay. Safe Among the Germans: Liberated Jews After
World War II. New Haven, CT: Yale University Press, 2002. Pp. xiv,
347. Cloth $29.95. ISBN 0300092717.
4) At the end of the review, the reviewer should write his or her name in upper-case letters. The institutional affiliation, if any, should appear after the reviewer’s name.
Example: JANE Q. PROFESSOR, State University of New York
5) The editors of Journal of Jewish Identities reserve the right to edit reviews for style, conciseness, consistency, and appropriateness. |
